Three Mavericks Earn Spots on ECC Scholar Athlete Honor Rolls

DOBBS FERRY, NY - Three Mercy College student-athletes, senior baseball player Chris Pannullo (Dix Hills, NY), sophomore softball player Chelsea Methot (Bristol, CT), and sophomore women's basketball player Ashley Borofsky (Southington, CT) have been named to the East Coast Conference (ECC) Scholar Athlete Honor Roll for their respective winter and spring sports. Honorees are nominated by their institution and voted upon by the Faculty Athletic Representatives throughout the ECC.

Borofsky has put together a 3.63 cumulative grade point average as a corporate and homeland security major, including a 3.87 in 2009-10.  She averaged 8.1 points per game, 3.5 rebounds per game, and drained a team-best 45 three pointers as she helped the Mavericks to a berth in the ECC Tournament this year. Borofsky was a 70 percent free throw shooter and ranked second on the squad with 12 blocked shots.

A criminal justice major, Methot has compiled a 3.47 cumulative grade point average, including a 3.63 in 2009-10.  She tied for the team lead with a .357 batting average, playing and starting 32 of 34 games in the outfield. Methot led the squad with five home runs, tied for the team lead with two triples, and drove in 16 runs to help her squad to the program's most wins (16) since the 1987 season. She also registered six assists from the outfield, making only one error in 73 chances for a .986 fielding percentage.

Pannullo is a criminal justice major with a 3.46 cumulative grade point average. He appeared in 34 of 35 games, starting 32, primarily in the outfield. Pannullo tied for second on the squad with seven doubles, ranked third with 15 runs batted in, third with six stolen bases, and led the Mavericks with 22 walks. He registered four assists, making only one error in 71 chances for a .986 fielding percentage.

The trio joins five fall sport athletes, Thomas Cannariato (Goshen, NY), Katelyn Klobus (Averill Park, NY), Casey Kondelka (Bloomingburg, NY), Raldino Powell (Bronx, NY), and Shedeiky Hamilton (Yallahs, Jamaica), who were also named to their Scholar Athlete Honor Rolls, giving Mercy College a total of eight for the year.
