Mercy College to Host Third Round and Quarterfinals of 2017 NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Championship on Friday and Sunday

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Nov. 13, 2017) – Mercy College will be hosting the Third Round and Quarterfinals of the 2017 NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Championships on Friday, November 17th and Sunday, November 19th at Mercy Field. The No. 2 seeded Mercy College women's soccer team will host No. 4 seeded LIU Post in the East Region Final on Friday at 2 p.m. Mercy College will also host the Atlantic Region Final on Friday at 11 a.m. between No. 1 seeded West Chester University and No. 2 seeded East Stroudsburg University. The winners of each contest will then face off in a Quarterfinal matchup on Sunday at 12 p.m. at Mercy Field with the winner advancing to the Semifinals in Kansas City, Missouri.

Friday, November 17: No. 1 West Chester University (16-3-2) vs. No. 2 East Stroudsburg University (15-3-4) 11 a.m. at Mercy Field

East Region Final

Friday, November 17: No. 2 Mercy College (17-3) vs. No. 4 LIU Post (17-3-1) 2 p.m. at Mercy Field

Quarterfinals

Sunday, November 19: Atlantic Region Final winner vs. East Region Final Winner 12 p.m. at Mercy Field

Children under the age of 2 shall be admitted free when accompanied by a paying adult.

How They Got Here

Mercy

The Mavericks qualified for the NCAA Tournament as a No. 2 seed after winning the ECC Championship for the first time since 2014. Mercy earned a bye into the second round and hosted No. 3 seeded Southern New Hampshire University on Sunday, earning a 3-1 win to advance to the Third Round for the second time in program history. Mercy will be hosting the Third Round and Quarterfinals for the first time in school history.

LIU Post

The Pioneers earned an at-large bid after being ECC Co-Regular Season Champions. LIU Post earned the No. 4 seed in the East Region and took on No. 5 seeded Franklin Pierce University in a First Round matchup at Adelphi University on Friday. The Pioneers earned a 2-0 win and advanced to the Second Round where they played at No. 1 seed Adelphi on Sunday. LIU Post came away with a 3-2 win over the Panthers on Sunday to advance to the Third Round for the first time in ten years.

West Chester

West Chester earned the No. 1 seed in the Atlantic Region after claiming the top spot in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference standings. The Golden Rams enter the Third Round with a 16-3-2 overall record and are coming off a win over Notre Dame College (Ohio) in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Sunday. West Chester advanced after defeating Notre Dame in penalty kicks. The Golden Rams will meet up with East Stroudsburg for the third time this season with the teams splitting 1-0 decisions earlier this season.

East Stroudsburg

East Stroudsburg garnered the No. 2 seed in the Atlantic Region after winning the PSAC Tournament Championship over West Chester. The Warriors enter this weekend with a 15-3-4 mark and advanced to the Third Round after defeating West Virginia Wesleyan on penalty kicks on Sunday. The Warriors are making their fourth straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament and have one Atlantic Region title to their credit.
