Scouting the Mavericks
The Mavericks enter this week's contest after dropping a 4-2 decision to ECC foe LIU Post on Sunday afternoon at LIU Post Baseball Field. Despite a complete game from senior Matt Nalbone and RBI from senior Randal Mendez and sophomore Anthony Murphy, the Mercy College baseball team was unable to earn the victory. Mendez went 2-for-3 with one RBI and one run scored in the contest. Leading the Mavericks for the season at the plate is junior Joseph Sadallah, who currently leads the team with a .366 batting average, .507 slugging percentage, 26 hits, 15 runs scored, four triples, and 36 total bases. On the mound for Mercy is Nalbone, who has thrown a team high 31.1 innings, striking out 22 batters and sporting a 5.17 earned run average.
Scouting the Lions
The Molloy baseball team takes on the Mavericks on Wednesday afternoon after falling, 5-4, to the University of Bridgeport Monday afternoon. The Lions are now 8-16 on the season and fall to 3-3 in East Coast Conference play. Redshirt senior Michael Rahn led the Lions offensively, going 3-for-5 at the plate. Senior Dominic Danetti pitched 5.2 innings in the loss, striking out two Purple Knights. A force at the plate for the Lions this season is junior Angelo Navetta, who has recorded 26 hits, 20 runs scored, 17 RBI, five doubles, three homeruns, and two triples throughout the season. On the mound for Molloy is senior Ronald Bauer, who has thrown a team high 41.0 innings, striking out 26 batters and recording a 2.85 earned run average.
