Field Hockey Welcomes Five Newcomers for Fall 2017 Campaign

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (July 7, 2017) – Head Coach Deirdre O'Neill and the Mercy College field hockey team welcome five newcomers to the squad ahead of the Fall 2017 campaign. The Mavericks will look to this recruiting class to build upon their successful 2016 campaign where they broke the program record in wins for a season and made it to the postseason for the first time in program history.

The 2017 class includes:

Fr. Brooke Anthony (Miller Place, N.Y. / Miller Place High School)

Fr. Bianca Cano (West Milford, N.J. / West Milford Township High School)

Fr. Hailee Hallard (Port Monmouth, N.J. / Middletown High School North)

Sr. Samantha Perez (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y. / Comsewogue High School)

Fr. Kellie Znaniecki (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y. / Comsewogue High School)

"The 2017 class is one that will help bring the Mercy Field Hockey team to the next level. All five of our incomers bring a skill set that will contribute to the success of our program. We are looking forward to new opportunities this season and building off of our accomplishments from the 2016 season," said O'Neill. 

 

Brooke Anthony

Defender/Midfielder

Coach's Comments: "We are very excited to have Brooke join our team in the fall. Her speed and athleticism will be a great addition to our program."

 

Bianca Cano

Midfielder

West Milford, N.J. / West Milford Township High School

Coach's Comments: "Bianca is very skilled at controlling the ball in the center of the field. Her ability to move the ball and have vision of her teammates will be very beneficial for us."

 

Hailee Hallard

Forward

Port Monmouth, N.J. / Middletown High School North

Coach's Comments: "Hailee's stick skills and vision of the field will be a great addition to our offense. Hailee will contribute in many scoring opportunities for the Mavericks."

 

Samantha Perez

Midfield/Forward

Port Jefferson Station, N.Y. / Comsewogue High School

Coach's Comments: "Samantha is relentless on the field. Her speed and communication will spread throughout the field."

 

Kellie Znaniecki

Forward

Port Jefferson Station, N.Y. / Comsewogue High School

Coach's Comments: "Kellie is a very strong player throughout the field. Her athleticism and persistence will immediately impact our program."
