DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (July 21, 2017) – The Mercy College field hockey team has announced their 2017 regular season schedule, which includes nine home games at Mercy Field and nine games on the road.
O'Neill heads into her second season as Head Coach, after leading the Mavericks to a record-breaking season in 2016. The Mavericks set a school record for most wins in a season and earned their first-ever berth into the ECAC DII Field Hockey League Tournament.
"This year's schedule will continue to push our program in the right direction. We are continually looking to improve in all ways possible and to take our program to the next level. We are very excited to see what the 2017 season will bring," stated O'Neill.
For the 2017 season, the Mavericks will host three games in the month of September. They open up their season with a trip down the South Carolina, where they will play three ECAC games to begin the season. The Mavericks will take on Belmont Abbey College on Friday, September 1st before facing Limestone College on Saturday, September 2nd. Mercy will close out the trip against Newberry College on Monday, September 4th before heading back up north.
Mercy will then travel to American International College on Saturday, September 9th. The Mavericks will then have their home opener on Wednesday, September 13th when they will host Pace University in a non-conference matchup. The Mavericks then have a busy weekend, as they will host Molloy College on Saturday, September 16th and Limestone College on Sunday, September 17th.
The Mavericks then pack their bags as they head out to Missouri for conference action as they take on Lindenwood University on Friday, September 22nd before facing Bellarmine University on Saturday, September 23rd. Mercy then returns to New York but stays on the road when they travel to St. Thomas Aquinas College for a matchup on Wednesday, September 27th.
O'Neill and the Mavericks squad open up the month of October with a six-game homestand. A matchup against Saint Anselm on Sunday, October 1st begins the month, followed by an ECAC contest against Newberry College on Saturday, October 7th.
The Mavericks then welcome St. Thomas Aquinas on Tuesday, October 10th before gearing up for three conference games in a row. Mercy will host Bellarmine University on Saturday, October 14th, followed by Belmont Abbey on Thursday, October 19th. The Mavericks will conclude conference play on Sunday, October 22nd against Lindenwood University.
Mercy closes out the regular season on the road, as they will travel to University of New Haven on Wednesday, October 25th and Molloy College on Saturday, October 28th.
