Men Lacrosse Runs Past Dominican College, 12-6

ORANGEBURG, N.Y. (Apr. 27, 2013) - Senior Mike Marzocca (North Babylon, N.Y. / North Babylon) had three goals, one assist and three groundballs as the Mavericks defeated the winless Dominican College Chargers, 12-6. The Mavericks improved to 10-4 overall and 3-3 in the East Coast Conference, while the Chargers fell to 0-11 overall and 0-6 in the ECC.

The Mavericks controlled the entire first half by scoring eight unanswered goals, and leaving the Chargers scoreless going into the break. The second half proved more of the same as the Mavericks pushed the lead to 9-0 on a goal by John Fitzpatrick (Yorktown, N.Y. / Lakeland). The Chargers would score four unanswered goals cutting into the Maverick lead to 9-4. Marzocca completed his hat trick by scoring late in the third to push the Mavericks lead back to 10-4.

In the fourth, goals by Ftim Lajqi (Yorktown Heights, N.Y. / Yorktown) and Alex Martello 
(Montville, N.J. / Montville Township) closed the door on any attempt of a comeback by the Chargers.

For the game, Mercy's Kyle Stockton (Medford, N.Y. / Patchogue-Medford) had two goals, one assist, and two groundballs, while, Joe Poppe (Elbridge, N.Y. / Jordan-Elbridge (Onondaga CC)) had two goals, and two groundballs. Jesse Wood (Binghamton, N.Y. / Seton Catholic Central) had one goal, three assists, and five groundballs, while Lajqi added eight groundballs. In goal, A.J. Pellati (West Islip, N.Y. / West Islip) logged 28:52 minutes, and had four saves, while Justin Seltzer (Closter, N.J. / Northern Valley Demarest) logged 21:13 minutes and had two saves.

Head Coach Jordan Levine and the Mavericks return to action on Sunday May 5, as they host the Lions of Molloy College on Senior Day at 1:00 p.m.
