Men's Soccer Announces 2017 Schedule; Includes Seven Home Dates

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (July 19, 2017) – The Mercy College men's soccer team has announced its schedule for the Fall 2017 season. The Mavericks will play a slate of 17 games, including seven home games and ten games on the road.


Pedro Velazquez enters his second year as Head Coach, after leading the Mavericks to an impressive 9-4-3 season with three members of the squad earning All-ECC recognition.

The Mavericks will open the 2017 schedule on the road when they travel to Southern Connecticut State University to take on the Owls on Thursday, August 31st.

Mercy then will have their home opener on Saturday, September 2nd when they host Chestnut Hill College. The Mavericks hit the road again for two away games, as they take on Assumption College on September 7th, followed by Stonehill College on Saturday, September 9th.

The Mavericks return home to host Thomas Jefferson University (formerly Philadelphia University) on Tuesday, September 12th before facing ECC opponent District of Columbia on the road on Saturday, September 16th. The Mavericks continue to travel as they will take on Felician University on Tuesday, September 20th.

Velazquez and the squad then head into four ECC matchups beginning on Saturday, September 23rd when they travel to take on New York Institute of Technology. Mercy returns home to host Queens College on Saturday, September 30th before hitting the road once more to face University of Bridgeport on Wednesday, October 4th and Daemen College on Saturday, October 7th. The Mavericks earned victories over both Bridgeport and Daemen last season.

Mercy will begin their mini two-game homestand with a game against Holy Family on Thursday, October 12th followed by an ECC matchup against Molloy College on Saturday, October 14th. The Mavericks continue ECC play when they travel to take on LIU Post on Wednesday, October 18th. The Mavericks and the Pioneers tied 3-3 last season after a double overtime thriller.

Velazquez will then face Roberts Wesleyan at Mercy Field on Saturday, October 21st before crossing the Hudson River to take on Dominican College on Wednesday, October 25th. The Mavericks conclude the regular season against St. Thomas Aquinas College on Saturday, October 28th in a home contest.
