Paige Cauley Named to ECC Softball All-Conference Team
DOBBS FERRY, NY -
Mercy College sophomore Paige Cauley
(Stratford,
NJ) was named to the East Coast
Conference (ECC) softball All-Conference Third Team as a second
baseman, as announced on Thursday.
Cauley tied for the team-lead in batting with a .357 average and
had a team-best 41 hits, 24 runs scored, and 15 doubles. She ranked
fifth in the nation in doubles per game and also hit four home runs
with 17 RBI. Cauley had a .423 on base percentage and a .591
slugging percentage.
She twice had a seven game hitting streak and totaled 11 multiple
hit games. Cauley went 5-for-5 with one RBI and three runs scored
against St. Thomas Aquinas. She also went 3-for-4 against
Bloomfield with one RBI and one run scored. Cauley led the team
with six stolen bases in seven attempts.
Cauley and first year Head Coach Jen Hastings
helped lead the Mavericks (16-18) to their best season since the
1987 squad won 22 games. As a team the Blue & White upped their
batting average from .260 to .292 from last season, and lowered the
team earned run average from 5.56 to 3.94.
