Mercy College softball student-athlete Chelsea Methot was named Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division II All-East Region today.

Methot (Bristol, Conn./Bristol Central) led the team in virtually every offensive category, including hits (52), extra base hits (25), home runs (15), RBI (40), total bases (108), batting average (.441), slugging percentage (.915), and on base percentage (.522). The centerfielder also had a fielding percentage of .941
For her efforts, the team captain was named to the First Team All-East Coast Conference earlier this month. Earlier this season she held a 26 consecutive game hitting streak.
Additionally, the senior ranks among the nation's leaders in several offensive categories. She is ranked sixth in homeruns per game, seventh in slugging percentage, 21st in batting average, 23rd in on base percentage, and 42nd in RBI per game.
As a member of the First Team East Region, she is now eligible for consideration for national All-America honors.
The Mavericks recently completed the season with a 21-23 mark, including 14-14 and fourth place in the ECC. The 20 wins are the most since 1987, when the team posted a 22-7 record.
