DANBURY, Conn. (May 18, 2017) –The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced its Division II Softball Awards and All-ECAC selections for the 2017 season. Junior Morgan Lloyd (East Lyme, Conn./East Lyme) has been named First Team All-ECAC, while junior Skania Lemus (Chula Vista, Calif./Southwestern CC) and freshman Kendall Meeks (Guysville, Ohio/Alexander) were tabbed All-ECAC Honorable Mention as announced by the organization on Thursday.
Lloyd earns First Team honors after being named NFCA First Team All-East Region and ECC Co-Player of the Year. The junior led the ECC in batting average throughout the season and currently paces the ECC in batting average at .436 over 20 points higher than the runner-up. The outfielder is also second in the ECC in hits with 68, tying the single-season school record for hits in a season, and on base percentage .461. Lloyd is also third in the conference with 13 doubles and ranks in the top-10 in the ECC with 29 runs batted in and a .571 slugging percentage.
Meeks was named ECAC Honorable Mention after taking home ECC First Team honors. The freshman earned four ECAC Rookie of the Week and three ECC Rookie of the Week accolades throughout the season. Meeks led the team with ten home runs and recorded 29 RBI for the season.
Lemus earns ECAC Honorable Mention after also being named to the NFCA First Team All-East Region selection and First Team All-ECC in her first year as a Maverick. The junior recorded 63 hits, 33 runs scored, 33 RBI, and five stolen bases. The second baseman ended the season with a .404 batting average and led the Mavericks with 104 total bases and in runs scored.
