DOBBS FERRY, NY - The Mercy College women's volleyball team will play its first home match of the 2008 campaign when it takes on Post University at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 2. The Mavericks will be playing in their newly renovated gymnasium. Admission to all home matches is free.
The summer facelift for the gymnasium included a refurbished floor with court lines centered, the new Mavericks logo placed at center court and a new scoreboard. The ceiling was also exposed and painted to go with new light fixtures. New wall padding, backboards, bleachers and a scorer's table will complete the renovations.
Mercy (1-2) is coming off a 3-0 win over Virginia State at the Kutztown Classic on Saturday. Junior Diana Bruzzone (Guayaquil, Ecuador) is averaging 3.0 kills per game and 6.33 digs per game through three matches with a .218 attack percentage. Sophomore Shedeiky Hamilton (Yallahs, Jamaica) is second on the squad at 2.50 kills per game. Junior Ashley Zufelt (Farmington, NM) is averaging 2.33 kills per game and carries a team-best .260 attack percentage and 0.89 blocks per game.
