BRONXVILLE, NY - Senior guard Christina Baxter (Greenwood Lake, NY) and sophomore forward Delmara Reece (Yonkers, NY) each registered double-doubles to lead the Mercy College women's basketball team to a 101-81 road victory over Concordia on Saturday. The win clinched a berth in the East Coast Conference (ECC) Tournament, the program's first appearance since the 2001-02 season.
Baxter poured in 21 points, going 7-of-11 from the field and 5-of-5 at the free throw line. She also dished out 11 assists, giving her 518 for her career, only five behind the program's all-time leader Joyce Lenoir. Reece netted 14 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. Sophomore Ashley Borofsky (Southington, CT) tied Baxter for a game-high with 21 points on 8-of-19 from the field, including 5-of-12 on three-point attempts.
Concordia (4-21, 2-14 ECC) scored the first six points of the contest, but Mercy College (9-16, 6-10 ECC) exploded for a 29-6 run over a span of nearly eight minutes, and never looked back. Baxter sparked the run with 11 points, while Reece added six.
The Mavericks would stretch the first half lead to as many as 26 at 46-20 on a Borofsky three-pointer with 6:04 left. The Clippers were able to cut the gap to 20 on three occasions, but Mercy took a 59-37 advantage into the break.

Mercy came out of the locker room with another run, this one a 12-4 stretch that gave the Mavericks their largest lead of the game at 71-41 with 17:18 to go. Borofsky contributed five points and Baxter netted four during that span.
The Clippers made one bid midway through the second frame, putting together their own 16-7 spurt that cut the margin to 78-57 with 11:17 remaining, but the Mavericks responded by scoring the next eight points to go back up by 21 at 86-57.
Concordia managed to slash the deficit to 18 late before a pair of free throws from freshman Aimee Levine (Flushing, NY) and a jumper from Jazmin Steele (Stoughton, MA) sealed the victory for the Mavericks.
Freshman Simone Williams (Waldorf, MD) chipped in 12 points and Levine finished with 11, giving the Mavericks five players in double-digits.
Four Clippers scored in double figures, led by Dana Rommel's (Staten Island, NY) 20 points. Kayla Koch (Kings Park, NY) added 15.
The Mavericks will close out the regular season by hosting Bridgeport on Wednesday and NYIT on Saturday.
