Mavericks Volleyball Sweeps Chestnut
Hill, 3-0
Mercy College easily defeats
Griffins on the road.
PHILADELPHIA, Pa.
– The Mercy College women's volleyball team
dominated the Chestnut Hill Griffins, 3-0 (25-11, 25-13, 25-19), in
non-conference play on Thursday in Philadelphia.
With the win, the Mavericks advance to
4-20 overall, while the Griffins fall to 4-21.
Junior Shedeiky Hamilton
(Yallahs, Jamaica) led the team's offense with 16
kills (.387 attack percentage). Hamilton posted one service ace. As
a team, the Mavericks totaled 40 kills with attack percentages of
.344 in the first set, .294 in the second and .250 in the final.
The Griffins were in the negative for all three sets.
Senior Diana Bruzzone
(Guayaquil, Ecuador) led the Mavericks with 16 digs.
Bruzzone also had four kills and five assists.
Classmate Ashley Zufelt
(Farmington, N.M.) was second in kills with nine, also
adding four digs. Sophomore Bridgette Pennelle (Hawthorne,
N.Y.) tallied 22 assists en route to a Maverick 3-0 sweep.
After their strong win at Chestnut
Hill, the Mavericks will go back to conference play with a road
trip to Old Westbury, N.Y., to face the Bears of NYIT on their home
court on Tuesday, Oct. 27.
