Second-Straight Double-Save Effort By Walsh In Mavericks 3-1 Loss To Felician

 Martin Walsh.

LYNDHURST, N.J. – Sophomore goalkeeper Martin Walsh (Dublin, Ireland) tallied his second-straight double-digit save effort despite the Mercy College men's soccer team's 3-1 loss to Felician, Saturday afternoon in Lyndhurst, N.J. Saturday's game was an added game for both teams after Lincoln cancelled their men's soccer season.

Walsh blanked 10 Felician shots on goal, after stopping 12 earlier in the week at Queens College.

With the non-conference loss, the Mavericks fall to 3-12 overall for 2009.

Felician got off to a two-goal lead, both scored in the first half.

The game remained 2-0 in favor of Felician until the 75th minute when Artiz Artoni (Sao Paulo, Brazil) scored his fourth goal of the season from a cross pass from Ferney Forero (Ossining, N.Y.). Artoni kicked the ball through to the inside right post past goalkeeper Jason Smith.

Felician answered back two minutes later to end the game at 3-1.

The Mavericks had 16 shots in the contest.

Felician goalkeeper Jason Smith had only one save in goal.
