Volleyball Mavericks Drop Three-Game Match To Bridgeport

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – The Mercy College volleyball team lost 3-0 to University of Bridgeport in an East Coast Conference showdown on Tuesday night at Mercy College Gymnasium. The Purple Knights tallied 11 aces in the second set to take the lead easy lead on their way to a 3-0 match victory (15-25, 7-25, 13-25). With the loss, the Mercy Mavericks fall to 2-15 on the season and 0-3 in conference play. The Purple Knights advance to 19-3 overall and 3-0 in the ECC.

Maverick junior Shedeiky Hamilton (Yallahs, Jamaica) led the Mavericks in kills for the seventh-straight time this season with six. She also posted eight digs in the three-set match. Freshman Rebecca Lynch (Oceanside, N.Y.) had 16 assists in the match and one service ace. Senior outside hitter Diana Bruzzone (Guayaquil, Ecuador) tied Hamilton with a team-high eight digs.

Next up, the Mercy College volleyball team will take to the road to take on C.W. Post on Thursday, Oct. 8. The Mavericks will face off against the Pioneers at 7 p.m. at Pratt Recreation Center in Brookville, N.Y.
