Mercy Women's Soccer Closed Out Season At Queens College

FLUSHING, N.Y. -- The Mercy College women's soccer team closed out its 2009 season at Queens College in a rescheduled East Coast Conference contest on Sunday. The Queens College Knights defeated the Mavericks 9-0.

The Mavericks closed out the season 3-9 overall and 1-6 in the league.

Maverick Ashley Zufelt (Farmington, N.M.) tallied the lone shot for the Mavericks. Kassandra Phillips (Marcellus, N.Y.) was in the goal for Mercy College. DiLegge had 13 saves as the Mavericks goalkeeper.

Sunday's game was originally scheduled to be played on Saturday in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. It was the final game for Maverick seniors Stephanie Bann (New Cumberland, Pa.), Nicolina Coppola (College Point, N.Y.), Casey Kondelka (Bloomingburg, N.Y.), Ann Meenagh (Dublin, Ireland) and Kelly Smith (Dundee, Scotland). These five senior will be honored in a special Soccer Senior halftime presentation at a Maverick men's basketball game, date to be announced.
