Mavericks Volleyball Closed Out Their Home Season With Senior Day Against C.W. Post

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. -- The Mercy College volleyball team closed out their 2009 home season with senior day in Dobbs Ferry. Five members of the Mavericks were honored: Bernalyn Judan, Diana Bruzzone, Sasha Atkins, Shedeiky Hamilton and Ashley Zufelt.

The five were honored in a special pregame presentation.


Admidst the senior day festivities, the Mavericks lost 3-0 (16-25, 17-25, 12-25) to the C.W. Post Pioneers in East Coast Conference action. With the loss, the Mavericks fall to 4-23 on the season and 0-11 in the league. The Pioneers advance to 13-13 overall and 7-4 in the conference.

Senior Bruzzone (Guayaquil, Ecuador) led the team overall with 14 digs, four kills and two block assists. Hamilton (Yallahs, Jamaica) tallied eight kills. seven digs and one block assist.

All five seniors saw time on the court in their final home game for the Mavericks.

Overall, the Mavericks and Pioneers tied the score 11 times in three sets.

The Mavericks will play their final game for 2009 on the road at Queens College in Flushing, N.Y., on Thursday, Nov. 5. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
