Mercy Men's Soccer Loses 4-0 At No. 13

Ranked Chargers hand Mavericks
first shut out of the season.
ORANGEBURG, N.Y.
– Against their first ranked team this season, the
Mercy College men's soccer team lost 4-0 against
non-conference opponent No. 13 (NSCAA/Adidas Division II Poll)
Dominican College, Tuesday afternoon at the DC Soccer Field.
With the loss, the Mavericks fall to
2-5 on the season, while the Chargers continue to be undefeated at
8-0-2.
The Mavericks and Chargers were
scoreless for the first 16 minutes of play before Domincan got on
the board early at 16:48.
Mercy College was only down 2-0 at the
half, and neither team could score until 74:12, when Domincan took
a 3-0 lead. Charger freshman James Flaherty (London, England)
netted the Chargers final goal of the game at 84:31 off the pass
from freshman Alejandro Monsalve (Medellin, Colombia) to give
Domincan the 4-0 victory.
Sophomore goalkeeper Martin
Walsh (Dublin, Ireland) had three saves in the loss.
Midfielder Marko Loncar (Pleasantville, N.Y.) led
the Mavericks in shots with three.
The Mavericks will look to rebound
from their loss on Tuesday, Oct. 6, when they play host to Molloy
at home on Mercy College Field for an East Coast Conference match
up. Game time is slated for 3 p.m. Mercy College is 0-1 in league
play, while Molloy is has yet to play a conference opponent.
