Mercy College Volleyball Topped by Dominican in 2009 Opener
DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. - The Mercy College
volleyball team fell by a score of 3-0 in their season opener to
visiting Dominican College on Thursday night. The Chargers
took the match by scores of 25-16, 25-22, and 25-23.
Senior Sasha Atkins
(Bronx,
N.Y.) led Mercy (0-1) with 13
kills and added five digs. Senior Diana Bruzzone
(Guayaquil,
Ecuador) chipped in six kills and
14 digs. Freshman Marissa Hurley
(Shirley,
N.Y.) registered a match-high 16
digs for the Mavericks.
Dominican (1-2) was paced by a 16-kill effort from
Michelle Fiorvanti
(Commack,
N.Y.). Catherine Giordano
(Stony Point,
N.Y.) collected a team-high 13
digs for the Chargers.
The Mavericks will be back in action on Tuesday, September 8, at
Pace.
