Jason Schobert Leads Mercy Men's Soccer to 1-0 Win at St. Anselm

Junior Jason Schobert (New Paltz, N.Y./Ulster C.C.) lifted the Mercy College men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over St. Anselm College on Sunday afternoon, in front of 147 fans in Manchester, N.H. Mercy is now 4-5-2 on the season, while St. Anselm is now 3-8-1.

The game's sole goal came at the 65:10 mark, when Collin Legge (Schodack, N.Y./Maple Hill) sent a pinpoint pass to Schobert on a direct kick, and Schobert put it past Mark Kotsopoulos, the St. Anselm keeper.  

With the lead, Mercy continued to push forward, and almost had a second tally. But Kotsopoulos made a key save late in the game. Mercy keeper Pedro Velazquez-Diaz (Walden, N.Y./Newberry College) made three stops on the day to earn the win.

Mercy returns to action on Saturday, October 16, hosting NYIT at 3:00 p.m. in East Coast Conference play.
