Mercy Volleyball Drops a Pair of Matches to Pace and St. A's

Box Score 2 The Mercy volleyball team extended its losing streak to nine, by
dropping a pair of matches today to St. Anselm, 3-2, and Pace, 3-0.
The tri-match was played in Pleasantville, N.Y.
In the first match, against St. Anselm, set scores were 25-17,
21-25, 18-25, 25-19, 15-9. After dropping the first set, the
Mavericks came back to win the second and third, before dropping
the fourth and fifth sets. For the match, junior Bridgette Pennelle (Hawthorne,
N.Y./Westlake) led the way with 11 kills, 13 assists,
and 10 digs. Freshman Nicolette Gebhardt (Middletown, N.Y./Pine
Bush) also played well, recording eight kills, nine
assists, and eight digs. Senior Mirlusca Montes (Lima, Peru/Senor de la
Misericordia) led the team in digs with 15, while
sophomore Rebecca Lynch (Oceanside,
N.Y./Oceanside) contributed 11 assists.
Against the hosts, Pace swept all three sets in close fashion:
27-25, 25-19, 25-14. Gebhardt led all players with 11 kills, while
sophomore Kassy Phillips (Marcellus,
N.Y./Marcellus) led Mercy with 11 digs.
Mercy is now 3-10 on the season, and will return to East Coast
Conference action on Tuesday, travelling to the University of
Bridgeport for a 7:00 p.m. contest.
