Box Score

Just ninety seconds into overtime, Dominican College's Alex Rodier scored on a penalty kick as the Chargers ran away with a dramatic 2-1 overtime decision against host Mercy College on Wednesday afternoon. Dominican improves to 11-3-2 on the season, while Mercy falls to 6-7-2.

Mercy managed to tie the score with about eight minutes to play in regulation, when Collin Legge (Schodack, N.Y./HVCC) took a feed from Daniele Iamiceli (Ossining, N.Y./Ossining) and managed to beat Brandon Heembrock, the Dominican keeper.

Dominican scored the first goal of the game in the first half, as Alan Heavey took a corner kick, and served the ball into the box. Matthew Shutter headed the ball past Mercy keeper Pedro Velazquez (Walden, N.Y./Newberry College) for the 1-0 lead.

Mercy carried play throughout the game, and was whistled for being offsides four times.

In goal, Velazquez-Diaz and Heembrock each made six saves.

The Mavericks return to action on Friday, October 29, at Philadelphia University.
