Volleyball Loses to Bloomfield and Goldey-Beacom Colleges

Box Score 2 The Mercy College volleyball team dropped both ends of a
tri-match at Bloomfield College with Goldey-Beacom on Saturday,
falling 3-0 to the hosts, and 3-1 to GBC. The Mavericks, who have
now lost 13 straight matches, are 3-14 overall.
In the opener against Bloomfield, set scores were 25-20, 25-13,
and 25-23. Freshman Nicolette Gebhardt (Middletown, N.Y./Pine
Bush) paced the Mavericks with eight kills and a
team-high 13 digs. Junior Bridgette Penelle (Hawthorne,
N.Y./Westlake) added six kills, five digs, and five
assists.
In the nightcap, Mercy claimed the first set 25-19, then dropped
three straight: 25-23, 25-18, 25-18. Pennelle had nine kills with
nine digs to lead the way. Senior Mirlusca Montes (Lima, Peru/Senor de la
Misericordia) added a game-high 16 digs, while
sophomore Rebecca Lynch (Oceanside,
N.Y./Oceanside) led all players with 36 set
assists.
Mercy returns to action in less than a day, travelling to
Worcester, Mass, for a tri-match at Assumption College with Adelphi
University.
