Mavericks Drop Final Game of Inaugural Season, 6-0
Box Score Mercy College ended the season today with a 6-0 loss to Kutztown, the fifth ranked team in the latest Kookaburra/National Field Hockey Coaches' Association Division II poll. Mercy finished out the inaugural season 0-13, and Kutztown improved to 11-8.
Elly Skinner got the scoring started for Kutztown at the 11:32 mark, and would score again at 12:56. The other goals were scored by Kelly McCartin, Abbey Sheeler, Brooke Mathews, and Emily Labowitz.
Freshman goalkeeper Kristen Znaniecki (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y./Comsewogue) had 17 saves for the Mavericks. Her effort today will again land her on the NCAA single game high saves list. She is also currently tied for fourth in the country in saves per game (9.50).
