Mercy's Jordan Levine Playing Professional Lacrosse with Philadelphia Wings
Assistant men's lacrosse coach Jordan Levine is gearing up
for the 2011Mercy College season by playing professionally for the
Philadelphia Wings of the National Lacrosse League (NLL).
This will be his third season with the club, who is celebrating its
25th anniversary this season.
Philadelphia opens the season on Saturday, January 8, hosting
the Boston Blazers.
Levine, a native of Bethpage, N.Y., and 2008 graduate of the
University at Albany, began his career with the Wings in 2009, when
he scored two goals and assisted on 11 others, while grabbing 92
loose balls. In 2010, he gobbled up 87 loose balls while assisting
on six goals.
A defensive midfielder, he also plays professionally in Major
League Lacrosse (MLL), the outdoor counterpart to the NLL. He began
his career in the summer league with the New Jersey Pride, who
selected him tenth in the 2008 MLL Collegiate Draft. That year, he
scored five goals and added nine assists. He then helped the
Toronto Nationals win the MLL in 2009, before moving to the
Chesapeake franchise for 2010. Mid-season, he was traded to the
Chicago Machine, where he finished the year with three goals and
four assists in five games played.
Mercy kicks off the second season in program history on February
26, 2011, by hosting Saint Anselm at 11:00 a.m. The Mavericks play
in the highly-competitive East Coast Conference, which includes
perennial powerhouses C.W. Post, Mercyhurst, NYIT, and Dowling, as
well as Molloy, Seton Hill, Dominican (N.Y.), Wheeling Jesuit, Lake
Erie and Chestnut Hill.
