Mavericks Women's Basketball Team Slow out of the Gate, Falls at UB
The Mercy College women's basketball team (2-5, 0-3 East Coast Conference) stumbled out of the gate and never recovered on Saturday, falling at the University of Bridgeport 75-45. UB (3-3, 2-0 ECC) shot the ball well (48.8%) and never trailed in the game.
The Purple Knights defense was the story, holding Mercy to a shooting percentage of 25% while forcing 31 Mercy turnovers, resulting in 31 points.
For the Mavericks, senior Ashley Borofsky (Southington, Conn./Southington) led the way with 13 points and six rebounds, as sophomore Aysha Williams (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle) chimed in with ten points and five rebounds.
The Mavericks return to the road on Wednesday, December 8, with a trip to face Queens College at 5:00 p.m.
