Mercy Rally Falls Short, Men's Basketball Drops Game at Queens 96-84
The Mercy College men's basketball team trailed by as many
as 20 points, and had a second-half rally come up short, losing to
Queens College 95-84 in East Coast Conference action on Wednesday
night.
Queens (3-1, 2-0 ECC) used an 11-3 run early in the first
half, and built on the lead throughout the period, taking a 51-35
lead into the break.
In the second half, the Mavericks (0-6, 0-3 ECC) chipped away at
the lead, narrowing the gap to as few as six with just 2:15 to play
on a Manny Garcia (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal
Spellman) jumper.
For the game, Garcia and Ed
Wilson (Bronx, N.Y./Msgr. Scanlan) each tallied 19
points.
Mercy finishes up first-semester action this Saturday, December
11, hosting St. Thomas Aquinas at 3:00 p.m.
