Mercy Women's Basketball Falls at Queens 68-57
The Mercy College women's basketball team struggled
offensively in the second half, and dropped a 68-57 decision at
Queens College on Wednesday night. Mercy falls to 2-5 overall,
including 0-3 in the East Coast Conference, while Queens improves
to 2-6, 1-1 ECC.
Mercy held a slight 26-25 lead late in the first half, only
to have Queens go on a 9-0 run to end the half.
In the second, Mercy could not overcome a 29.7% shooting
percentage.
Leading the way for Mercy was senior Ashley Borofsky (Southington,
Conn./Southington), who scored 20 points with six
rebounds and two steals. Sophomore Aysha Williams (New Rochelle, N.Y./New
Rochelle) added nine points and eight rebounds in just
21 minutes.
The Mavericks return to action on Saturday, December 18, hosting
St. Thomas Aquinas at 1:00 p.m.
