Mercy Mavericks fall to Dowling Golden Lions

In an East Coast Conference men's lacrosse game from
SUNY Purchase on Wednesday, March 24, the Mercy Mavericks fell to
the Dowling Golden Lions by a score of 17-2. The loss dropped
Mercy's record to 1-6, (0-3 ECC) and improved Dowling's
ledger to 5-1 (2-1 ECC).
It was a competitive game early in the first quarter as Dowling
grabbed a 1-0 lead and Mercy leveled the score on an unassisted
goal by freshman Alex Martello (Montville,
N.J./Montville). The Golden Lions answered with another tally
before Martello once again leveled the score with a goal.
Mercy wouldn't score again for the game as Dowling pulled
away to a 17-2 triumph. Between the pipes, freshman goal keeper, T.J. DiCarlo (Farmingdale,
N.Y./Farmingdale) continued his strong play as he turned aside 15
Golden Lions shots.
Martello's two goals brought him even with classmate, Mike Marzocca (North Babylon,
N.Y./North Babylon), who now share the team lead with eight goals
apiece.
Coach Steve Manitta and the team return to action on Sunday,
March 28, as they travel to Wheeling, W. Va., for an ECC game
against conference new comer Wheeling Jesuit University. The
face off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
