The Mercy College baseball team dropped a 7-0 decision at
Bridgeport on Monday. The Mavericks fall to 9-18 overall, 5-10 in
the East Coast Conference, while UB pushes its record to 9-12
overall, 7-8 in the ECC.
Mercy managed just two hits in the nine inning affair. The
firs
t came in the sixth inning, when Mike Gianzero (Highland Mills,
N.Y./Monroe-Woodbury) reached base safely. Senior Justin Muscarella (Plainedge,
N.Y./Island Trees) had the second Mercy hit in the eighth.
Taking the loss was freshman Tommy Cummings (Coatesville,
Pa./Bishop Shanahan), who allowed just two runs over the first five
innings.
Mercy will host the College of Mount Saint Vincent on Tuesday at
3:30 p.m.
