Boxscore

The Mercy College women's lacrosse team faced a nearly insurmountable foe in East Coast Conference opponent, C.W. Post.  The Pioneers entered the game ranked third in the nation and in the end, proved too much for the Mavericks, winning 23-4 in a game played on Wednesday afternoon.

The Mavericks fell behind early before freshman attacker Julie Darnulc (Baldwin, N.Y./Baldwin) scored the first of her three goals in the game to pull Mercy within 5-1.  The Mavericks added another goal in the first half coming off the stick of freshman attacker Marissa Hurley (Shirley, N.Y./William Floyd).

Darnulc added two goals late in the second half to complete the Mavericks scoring.  In the net, freshman goalie Lauren Mateja (King of Prussia, Pa./Upper Merion) turned aside nine shots.

Mercy now owns a 6-5 overall record (2-3 ECC).  The team returns to action on Saturday, April 24, as they host ECC foe Bridgeport in a game played under the lights in Purchase, New York.  The opening draw is slated for 7pm.
