Mercy Softball Drops Doubleheader at C.W. Post

The Mercy College softball team dropped
both ends of a doubleheader at C. W. Post on Tuesday afternoon,
12-4 and 10-0. C. W. Post, the #18 team in the country, is now
38-10 overall, 24-2 in the East Coast Conference, while Mercy is
16-26 overall, 7-19 in the ECC.
In game one, Paige Cauley (Stratford,
N.J./Iona College) and Chelsea Methot (Bristol, Conn./Bristol
Central) each knocked solo homeruns for the Mavericks. Starter Alex
Oakes (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Lakeland) lasted just 2.2
innings pitched, allowing 11 runs, 10 of which were earned.
In game two, C.W. post starting pitcher Hayley Bettles spun a
no-hitter to earn the win. Mercy starter Shanna
Hicks (Marlboro, N.Y./New Paltz), meanwhile, allowed
10 runs on 14 hits through four innings.
Mercy is back in action on Thursday, April 29, when the
Mavericks head to Wilmington (Del.) University for a doubleheader.
