The Mercy College men's lacrosse team fell to Molloy College 20-5 in an East Coast Conference game played in Rockville Centre, New York on Wednesday.  The Mavericks now own a 2-7 record, (1-4 ECC) while Molloy improves to 3-6 overall, (2-3 ECC).

Molloy jumped out a 2-0 lead in the first quarter as they found the net twice in a span of nearly thirty seconds.  The Mavericks answered later in the first as freshmen John Fitzpatrick (Yorktown, N.Y./Lakeland) and Mike Marzocca (North Babylon, N.Y./North Babylon) both scored unassisted goals to even the score at 2-2.

With the score tied at 2-2, the Lions roared ahead once again, taking a 4-2 lead to end the first quarter.  The Mavericks countered early in the second quarter courtesy of a goal from junior midfielder Nicholas Rizzuto (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park) off the feed from freshman James Bugeya (Lakeland, N.Y./Lakeland).  After Molloy rattled off six goals, Marzocca found the net for the second time in the game as he scored another unassisted goal to make the score 10-4.  For Marzocca, it was his eleventh goal of the season and it tied him with Alex Martello (Montville, N.J./Montville) for the team lead.  Mercy finished their scoring when Frank Henenlotter (Lynbrook, N.Y./Lynbrook) hooked up with Bugeya, who found the net for the score.

For the game, Marzocca scored two goals.  Bugeya picked up a goal and an assist.  As a team, Mercy took 36 shots in the game, picked up 24 ground balls and won seven face-offs.  The Mavericks return to action on Saturday, April 17 as they host Chestnut Hill College in an East Coast Conference game.  The faceoff is scheduled for 1pm.
