The Mercy College men's lacrosse team took a trip to
western Pennsylvania and fell to East Coast Conference opponent
Seton Hill University 18-7. Mercy now owns a 4-9 overall
mark, with a 2-6 conference record.
Seton Hill jumped out to a 2-0 lead before Mercy
freshman John Fitpatrick (Yorktown,
N.Y./Lakeland) scored an unassisted goal to bring the Mavericks
within 2-1. The Griffins then scored six unanswered tallies
before Fitzpatrick found the net for the second time in the game to
make the score 8-2.
After Seton Hill responded to take the score to 9-2, Michael Munch (West Babylon, N.Y./West
Babylon), a long pole, recorded an unassisted goal of his own to
make the score 9-3. The Griffins scored three more times to
take a 12-3 lead into the intermission.
Mercy surrendered a goal early in the third quarter, but got one
back thanks to Mike Marzocca (North Babylon, N.Y./North
Babylon) off a Fitzpatrick feed. Later in the third,
Fitzpatrick picked up a hat trick off an assist from Frank Henenlotter (Lynbrook,
N.Y./Lynbrook). Sean Wallin (Mountain Lakes,
N.J./Mountain Lakes) also found the net at the end of the quarter
with a pass from Frank Palumbo (North Babylon).
Henenlotter completed the Mavericks scoring with an unassisted
tally in the fourth.
The men's lacrosse team returns home on Wednesday, May 5,
to face Dominican College as part of a doubleheader with the
women's team. The faceoff is scheduled for 1:30
p.m. at Purchase College.
