Ken Mundy Tabbed ECC Baseball Player of the
Week
Mercy College senior Ken
Mundy (Valley Stream, N.Y./Valley Stream North) was
named the East Coast Conference Player of the Week today, for the
week ending May 2, 2010.
Mundy was a major factor in Mercy's magical run into the
post-season, hitting .538 in the final week of the season.
Mercy concluded the end of the regular season by sweeping St.
Thomas Aquinas in a five-game series to qualify for the ECC
Championships.
Mundy had 14 hits in 26 at bats last week, adding six runs
scored and seven RBI. He had hits in every game, including two
three-hit games against STAC. He also scored in five of the six
games.
In game four of the STAC series, his triple scored the
game-tying run, then he scored the eventual game-winning run.
Naturally, he was right in the middle of the four-run eighth
inning of the final game, singling and scoring.
The ECC Championships will be held May 6-8, 2010. All games will
be held at Dowling's baseball complex, off of exit 68 on the
LIE.
Mercy, who is the #4 seed in the upcoming double-elimination ECC
Championships, will play the #1 seed C.W. Post on Thursday at 3:00
p.m. STAC, the third seed, and Molloy, the second seed, will play
in the other game on Day One.
