Historic Day for Mercy Field Hockey Despite 4-1 Loss
Box Score The Mercy College field hockey ran its record to 0-4 today,
falling to Thomas
(Maine) College by a 4-1 score. In a game played in
Waterville, Maine, freshman Kristen Sliman (Brewster,
N.Y./Brewster) scored the first goal in the
program's history.
Thomas (2-3) scored in just the fourth minute of the game on a
penalty corner, and controlled the tempo for the first half. The
second Terriers goal came on a corner as well, this time on the
waning moments of the half.
In the second half, Thomas would extend its lead to 4-0 as both
Ally Kennedy and Kristin Masessa
scored their second goals of the game with only 15 minutes
remaining.
At the 66:14 mark, Kristen Sliman was able to put a shot passed
the Thomas keeper for the historic goal.
Mercy completes its two-day trip to Maine with an 11:00 a.m.
contest at Maine-Farmington on Saturday.
