Mercy Field Hockey Falls at Maine-Farmington 2-1
Box Score The Mercy College field hockey team lost the back end of a
two-game Maine trip, falling to the University of Maine at
Farmington today 2-1. Mercy is 0-5 on the season, while UMF
improves to 2-0.
The game was competitive throughout. The Beavers broke through
first at
the 21:14 mark, as Emma Deans scored to put UMF on top.
In the second half, UMF extended the lead to 2-0 with just over
25 minutes to play on a goal from Kaitlyn Bullen. Mercy was able to
cut the lead back to a single goal at the 58:40 mark, when Sheila Curry (Rocky Point, N.Y./Rocky
Point) made a pinpoint pass to Christine Feighan (Brewster,
N.Y./Brewster), who promptly scored.
The Mavericks would get no closer, despite 15 saves from goalie
Kristen Znaniecki (Port Jefferson Station,
N.Y./Comsewogue).
Mercy returns to action on Saturday, September 25, with a trip
to Kean (N.J.) University.
