The first set began with a bang for Mercy, as junior Bridgette Pennelle (Hawthorne, N.Y./Westlake) served an ace. Mercy held a 7-3 lead before the Dolphins rallied to knot the score at seven. Play remained tight, with the score reaching 19-19. Le Moyne took a 22-19 lead on a Bethany Fabian kill that prompted a Mercy time out. Le Moyne would continue to roll, winning the set 25-20.

In the second, Mercy jumped out to a 7-3 lead on kills by Nicolette Gebhardt (Middletown, N.Y./Pine Bush) and Najja Beaulieu-Hains (Vilseck, Germany/Vilseck). Le Moyne would regroup, reclaiming the lead. With the score 24-16 in their favor, Mercy went on a run to cut the gap to 24-22, again with Gebhardt and Beaulieu-Hains leading the way. But it would not be enough, and Mercy fell 25-22.

Set three saw more of the same. Le Moyne won the set 25-20, despite three service aces from Mercy's Mirlusca Montes (Lima, Peru/Senor de la Misericordia).

On the day, Gebhardt led all players with 15 kills. She added nine digs. In addition to her three aces, Montes added eight digs. Sophomore Becca Lynch (Oceanside, N.Y./Oceanside) added 17 set assists, while classmate Kassy Phillips (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus) contributed eight assists and six digs.
