Mercy Field Hockey Falls at Kean 2-0
Box Score Kean University used a pair of first-half goals to defeat the
visiting Mercy College field hockey team 2-0 today, in a game
played in Union, N.J.
Kean (6-1) blitzed Mercy (0-6) from the very beginning
of the game, earning three penalty corners in the first three and a
half minutes of the game. Stephanie Soares managed a shot for Kean
that was initially stopped by Mercy goalie Kristen Znaniecki (Port Jefferson Station,
N.Y./Comsewogue) only to have Kean's Amie Hoch
score on the rebound just 3:48 into the contest. Kean would add an
insurance goal at 32:43 of the first half on an Erica Kelly
score.
For the game, Znaniecki made 14 saves for Mercy.
Mercy College returns to action on Thursday, September 30, at
Seton Hill University.
