The Mercy College men's basketball team dropped their East Coast Conference matchup with the University of Bridgeport today, 100-65.  The Mavericks are now 0-14, including 0-9 ECC.  The Purple Knights (7-7, 7-2 ECC) evened their record with the win.

In the first half, a three pointer by Chaz Morrish (Douglaston, N.Y./St. Mary's) brought the score to 15-14, giving the Mavericks the edge.  It would be the last lead the Mavericks would have on the day.  Strong shooting by the Purple Knights was too much for Mercy, and at the half, Bridgeport had the 48-31 advantage.

The second half saw Bridgeport controlling the game and extending their lead, taking the game 100-65.

For the Mavericks, Manny Garcia (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Spellman) led in points (13) and rebounds (7).  Kirk Bailey (Freeport, N.Y./St. Mary's) added 12 points and grabbed five rebounds and Morrish added 11 points.  Bridgeport's Josh Martin led all players with 15 points, and Dave Boykin and Msoo Ikyaator each added 14 points.

Mercy returns to action on Wed., Jan. 19 when the Mavericks host Queens in a doubleheader.  Tip off for the men's game is at 7:30 p.m., following the women's game at 5:30 p.m.
