BOXSCORE - Mercy vs. Limestone (10/16/11)

GAFFNEY, S.C. (Oct. 16, 2011) – This weekend, the Mercy College field hockey squad dropped a pair of games to Mercyhurst College and host-Limestone College, both by scores of 4-1, in Gaffney, S.C. With the losses, Mercy dropped to 1-13 overall, while Mercyhurst improved to 7-9 overall and Limestone upped its record to 7-4.

Freshman midfielder Kristine Carl (Kingston, N.Y.) netted her first-ever collegiate goal in the game versus Mercyhurst on Saturday. It would not be enough as Mercyhurst reeled off four goals and was victorious. Between the pipes for the Mavericks, sophomore Tracey Wandle (Rocky Point, N.Y.) made four saves.

Against Limestone, it was junior forward Callie Schwichtenberg (San Diego, Calif.) who scored for the Mavericks. Sophomore defender Kristen Sliman (Brewster, N.Y.) had the assist. The marker was notched in the 61st minute of the game. Unfortunately, it was too little too late as the Saints already had posted four goals on the scoreboard. Wandle made nine saves in goal.

Head Coach Kayte Kinsley and the Mavericks return to action on Tuesday when they play host to Movarian College. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m. Please check www.MercyAthletics.com for the contest's venue.
