BOXSCORE - Mercy vs. NYIT

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. (Oct. 8, 2011) - On Saturday afternoon, the Mercy College women's soccer team was shutout by East Coast Conference-opponent New York Institute of Technology, 4-0 in Old Westbury, N.Y. Following the day's action, NYIT improved to 6-5 overall and 1-3 in the league, while Mercy fell to 2-10 overall and 1-4 in the ECC.

Maria Moreno netted the first two goals for the Bears (6:38, 33:26). Jessica Mangiaracina found the back of the netting in the 58th minute, while Kaye Wallace scored at 72:41.

Mercy did have opportunities to score as the Mavericks fired nine shots on goal put couldn't get any past NYIT goalkeeper Kathryn Miller, who made eight of those saves.

On the other side of the field, Mercy freshman netminder Krystal Guerrero (East Meadow, N.Y.) racked up six saves.

Head Coach Jonathan Feinstein and his squad return to action on Thursday when they host Bloomfield College. Kickoff is set for 3:00 p.m. on Mavericks Field.
