Men's Basketball Drops Home Opener to Le Moyne

BOXSCORE - Mercy vs. Le Moyne

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. (Nov. 19, 2011) – On Saturday afternoon, the Mercy College men's basketball team fell to Northeast-10 Conference opponent Le Moyne College, 73-53 at Mercy Gymnasium in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. With the win, the Dolphins improved to 1-1 overall. Following the loss, the Mavericks are now 0-4 on the year.

Le Moyne outscored Mercy in the first half, 40-23. However, that didn't diminish the Mavericks' spirits as after halftime, the hosts cut that 19-point deficit to eight by the 8:21 mark. Mercy opened up the second half with a 7-0 run, and then followed that up with a 9-0 burst a few minutes later. At that 8:21 mark, Le Moyne answered back with 12 straight points, which carried the game down to 4:33.

The Dolphins closed out the game and headed back to Syracuse, N.Y. with the 73-53 victory.

For Mercy, junior guard Colin Senior (Hackensack, N.J.) netted a team-high 11 points, while sophomore forward Kirk Bailey (Freeport, N.Y.) scored 10. Bailey also added five rebounds.

For Le Moyne, senior guard Chris Johnson (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) and sophomore guard Nate Champion (Logansport, Ind.) each scored 15 points, while sophomore center Jim Janson (Scotia, N.Y.) added 10. Leading the team with seven rebounds was freshman forward Ryan Romich (Groton, Mass.).

Head Coach Adam Parmenter and his troops return to action on November 30 when they host Chestnut Hill College. Game time is set for 8:00 p.m.
