PRINCESS ANNE, Md. (Dec. 10, 2011) – On Saturday afternoon, the Mercy College men's basketball team ventured down to the W.P. Hytche Athletic Centre in Princess Anne, Md. to take on Division I-opponent the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. Junior guard Colin Senior (Hackensack, N.J.) had 17 points, while junior forward Joseph Pope (Akron, Ohio) had 11, but ultimately, the Mavericks fell to the Hawks, 95-69.

Through half of the first stanza, Mercy (1-8) played tight to UMES (3-8) and trailed by only five points (19-14). The Hawks then reeled off a 9-3 run to put a little space between themselves and their guests. By the time halftime rolled around, UMES had a 53-31 advantage.

Despite the large deficit they faced coming out of the intermission, the Mavericks played hard in the second half. UMES outscored Mercy by just four points (42-38) in the second stanza.

For Mercy, Senior and Pope netted 17 and 11 points, respectively, while sophomore forward/center Jordan Lee (Englewood, N.J.) added eight. Mercy shot 50.0% from three-point range in the second half (5-for-10).
