Late Rally Stuns Mercy Baseball

The Mercy College baseball team was tied 3-3 with UMass-Lowell into the seventh inning, but eventually fell 11-3, in a game played in Fort Pierce, Fla. UML is currently the #6 ranked team in the East Region, as selected by the US Collegiate Baseball Writers Association. Yesterday, Mercy (4-7) beat the #5 team, New Haven, by a 7-6 score.

UML scored five runs in the seventh, and three moiré in the eighth for the win.

Sophomore Andrew Bock (Malverne, N.Y./Valley Stream North) had two hits in the game, including an RBI. Freshman Jesus Jaile (Hartsdale, N.Y./Fordham Prep) had an RBI single.

The Mavericks have a split doubleheader on Wednesday, facing Caldwell in the morning, and New Haven again in the late afternoon. Both games will take place in Fort Pierce, Fla.
