With goals coming from ten different players, the Mercy College men's lacrosse team dominated Franklin Pierce University 22-4, in a Mavericks' home game that was played in Danbury, Conn.  With the win, the Mavericks, ranked #8 in the latest USILA Coaches Poll, remain undefeated with a 5-0 record.  The Ravens suffered their first loss of the season, bringing their record to 2-1.

In the first quarter, freshman Quadear Mike (Syracuse, N.Y./East Syracuse Minoa) got the scoring started for Mercy on an unassisted goal at 12:31.  Mike has scored the Mavericks' first goal, in four of Mercy's five games this season.  Freshman Jesse Wood (Binghamton, N.Y./Seton Catholic) would score Mercy's next two goals around one minute apart.  A fourth tally by Mike Marzocca (North Babylon, N.Y./North Babylon) gave Mercy the 4-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Mercy would continue to control play in the second quarter, scoring five straight goals to take the 9-0 lead, before FPU's Matthew Leslie eventually put the Ravens on the board.  Mercy held the 10-1 lead at the break.

The Mavericks did not let up at all in the second half, outscoring the Ravens 7-2 in the third quarter and 5-1 in the fourth quarter.

Leading the Mavericks was Wood, with five goals and two assists.  Patrick Hodapp (Oak Ridge, N.Y./Jefferson) and Marzocca each had four goals.  Goalkeeper T.J. DiCarlo (Farmingdale, N.Y./Farmingdale) made ten saves, earning his fifth win of the season.

The Mavericks are out on the road next, traveling to Erie, Pa. to take on #6 ranked Mercyhurst on Saturday.
