Baseball Wraps up Florida Trip with 5-2 Win over St. Michael's
The Mercy College baseball team beat St. Michael's (Vt.)
College 5-2 today, in a game played in Fort Pierce, Fla. Mercy runs
its record to 6-8 on the season, having now won two of its last
three games.
Senior Keith Kreig (City Island, N.Y./Mount St.
Michael) started and went 5.2 innings, allowing one
run to earn the win. Classmate Steve Marsar (Seaford, N.Y./Holy
Trinity) was stellar in relief, hurling 3.1 innings to
claim the save.
Knocking RBI singles for the Mavericks were freshmen John
Casten (Valley Central, N.Y./Valley Central) and
Ken Post (Closter, N.J/St. Joseph's), and
senior Matt Walsh (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Peter's
Boys).
Mercy posted a 5-4 record while in Florida.
The Mavericks return to the Empire State on Friday, then host
Southern New Hampshire in a three-game series this weekend. First
pitch of Game One on Saturday is scheduled for 12:00 p.m., while
Sunday's game will start at noon as well.
