Mercy College Baseball Falls at Dowling College

Playing for the first time in 13 days, the Mercy College baseball team lost at Dowling College today, 13-1. The game was tied at one through six innings, before Dowling scored seven runs in the seventh, and five more in the eighth.

Starting pitcher Tyler Savin (Wantaugh, N.Y./MacArthur) threw six innings, allowing just one earned run on five hits. Tommy Cummings (Coatesville, Pa./Bishop Shanahan), who threw the seventh inning, took the loss.

Offensively, Mercy (6-9, 0-1 ECC) was led by Michael Grassano (Valley Stream, N.Y./Valley Stream South) and Michael Ferrante (Long Beach, N.Y./Long Beach). Each had two hits apiece.

Game Two of the series is tomorrow, Thursday, March 31, at 2:00 p.m. in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y.
