Day Two of the Mercy College softball trip to Florida saw the Mavericks split a pair of one-run games. Mercy beat Urbana, 5-4, before losing to Assumption 2-1.

Against Urbana, senior Kim Curry (Bristol, Conn./Central) singled home classmate Paige Cauley (Stratford, N.J./Sterling) in the top of the seventh. Cauley had walked, and advanced to second on a passed ball. Freshman Mary Sieber (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) earned the win after throwing 1.1 innings.

Against Assumption, Mercy got its run in the top of the first, as senior Chelsea Methot (Bristol, Conn./Central) drove home classmate Krissy Lacik (Edison, N.J./Edison). Assumption scored once in the fourth, and once in the bottom of the seventh for the win. Freshman Tayla Gardner (Orangeburg, N.Y./Tappan Zee) was the hard-luck loser, hurling a complete game, scattering just two hits while striking out three.
