Mercy Softball Drops Doubleheader to Molloy
The Mercy College softball team hosted Molloy College in an East
Coast Conference twinbill, dropping both games, 4-1, and 7-1.
With the losses Mercy is now 12-17 overall and 6-10 in the
ECC, while Molloy improves to 27-8 overall and 12-3 in league
play.
In Game One, Molloy College scored two runs in the top of
the first inning and added another in the top half of the fifth
inning. In the bottom of the fifth Mercy scored one run, when
senior Krissy Lacik (Edison, N.Y./Edison) hit
an RBI single down the third base line, scoring sophomore
Cristina Lisboa (Bronx, N.Y./St.
Catharine's). For the game, Lacik went 3-for-4
with one RBI.
The night cap saw Molloy take an early 2-0 lead, before
increasing the lead to 4-0. The Mavericks got on the board in the
bottom of the sixth when senior Paige
Cauley (Stratford, N.J./Sterling) drove in junior Jenna Ausiello (Petaluma, Calif./Casa Grande/Santa
Rosa C. C.) from second base. Ausiello had a pair of
hits n the game and scored one run.
The Mavericks will continue their home conference schedule
tomorrow, April 19, when they host NYIT for an ECC
doubleheader.
